As a freelance consultant, I blend my experience from having worked in both the voluntary sector and in local government, to offer consultancy that addresses the interface of the two: most frequently around commissioning and developing the market of Third Sector providers.
I fully understand, and frequently advise on, the challenges of joint commissioning between public sector partners in a locality. I've recently co-developed the concept of the local 'commissioning community' in the context of crime and community safety – which involves the Third Sector, citizens and service users in the commissioning process.
Working directly with the Third Sector across England and Wales, I equip charities and social enterprises of all sizes to understand and prepare for public service delivery, write better bids and balance ethics with enterprise.
Many Third Sector organisations have been able to access my services free of charge over the years, as I have been listed as an approved provider on various nationally-funded programmes of support such as the NAVCA Tender Support Fund, Capacity Builders Modernisation Fund. Current programmes include those run by CLINKS, the Co-operative Centre in Wales and Worcestershire County Council's Changing Futures Fund.
